'Archy & the Astronauts’, consisting of Archy Tomás (21), Nathan Snook (21), and Travis Coyne (23), took to the Komodo stage on Friday, 9th August, to launch their debut EP, ‘The Adventures of Archy & the Astronauts’ with a gig to go down in history.
The band put on a show jam-packed with the gritty and hard-hitting riffs they are famous for and a high-energy performance that captured the audience’s attention. There wasn’t a disappointed person in the house! Their performance really does leave you wondering, “How do they have so much energy?”. There was no better venue than The Komodo to host the gig, a venue committed to showcasing local, grassroots talent.
The show started with a mix of older singles and
unreleased songs, leading into the live debut of the EP. As the crowd demanded more, an insane performance of the band’s single ‘Something Funny’ was given to them as an encore, resulting in bassist Nathan entering the audience and having a cheeky crowd surf.
The EP 'The Adventures of Archy and the Astronauts’ consists of 5 songs. ‘Spot of Rain’ starts the EP off, leading into the previously well-received singles, ‘Cut your teeth’ and ‘Monochrome’, which gives the audience a brief moment to catch their breath before going straight into ‘Animal’ and ending on ‘John Doe’.
This is one of the strongest debut EPs out there, produced by Tom Joy (@TomHappy) and the fantastic cover artwork by Ned H.P. (@Nedhp). If you head down to one of their gigs, be sure to pick up a physical copy of the EP- you don’t want to miss out!
